What To Expect

Worried about not having a green thumb? No problem! You can take part in any aspect of gardening:

  • planting
  • pruning
  • weeding
  • harvesting
  • cover cropping
  • composting

There is a place for everyone in the garden! Any questions about gardening can be discussed during this time - the true setting for "whistle while you work." Or, feel free to email geanna.marek@bastyr.edu.

What's Growing?

We grow a variety of produce in the SNA beds, depending on what's in season. Here's a sample of what you might see if you stop by:

Bastyr Garden

A great way to learn basic gardening principles!
Volunteering

Join Geanna, our Garden Liaison, and help work on the SNA garden beds - part of the larger organic garden at Bastyr. Students from all programs are welcome to join in and connect with the very soil that continues to provide for our Bastyr Dining Commons and Teen Feed Seattle. In addition to pure enjoyment and fulfillment, time spent working in the garden counts toward community volunteer hours for Dietetic students.

If you're interested in a casual, once a month volunteer opportunity to harvest produce for Teen Feed, contact Geanna at geanna.marek@bastyr.edu.

If you're interested in spending more time in the garden, a work study position may fit you better. Contact Christine Borosh at cborosh@bastyr.edu.
